Historically speaking, once King Prajapati Daksh did a great Hawana and did not invited husband of his daughter Sati. Lord Shiva was her husband. Angered Sati felt insulted and jumped into the fire of Hawana. Enraged Mahadev took the burnt body of Sati mata in his lap and performed Tandava dance(dance of destruction). As a result, whole universe started shaking, thus Lord Vishnu came up to pacify angered Lord Shiva. He cut the dead body of Sati Devi into 51 pieces with his Sudarshan Chakra(mace). Hence, all the body parts fell at different locations of India and other asian countries and popularly known as Shakti peeth. Meanwhile, Katyayani Shakti peeth is the place where her hair fell down.

b) Although, Gopis of Vrindavan worshipped Goddess Katyayani to be blessed with Shri Krishna as their consort. With profound blessings of Goddess Katyayani, they were able to perform Maharasa with Shri Krishna. Since then, it is believed that unmarried girls should perform puja at this temple to get marital bliss.

c) Infact, there are idols of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha and Lord Surya at the vicinity of temple.

d) Moreover, there are many festivals like Navratri, Katyayani ‘vrat’ and Diwali are huge celebration here.

e) However, there has been a lot of renovations over the decade at Katyayani Shakti Peeth temple. But the main part of the temple is still same.

g) According to other religious text, goddess Katyayani is the Yogmaya of Lord Vishnu, he ordered her to be born as the daughter of Nand baba and Yashod. While, Shri Hari Vishnu was born as Lord Krishna to Devaki and Vasudev.
