As the name suggests, Mokshada Ekadashi is an auspicious day on which Hindus, if observing a fast and performing puja rituals, believe they can be blessed with moksha (liberation). It is widely held that on this day, the gates of Vaikunth Dham are open.

Thus, a devotee who observes a fast on this day is believed to be blessed to go to the divine abode of Lord Vishnu after death. Even the boon passes on to his ancestors too.

Additionally, it holds significance as the day Lord Krishna delivered the sermons of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna, earning it the title of Gita Jayanti. Many Vaishnavities gift copy of Bhagwad Gita to each other on this propitious day.

Certainly, Bhagwad Gita is a holy book of Hinduism which states the rules of Dharma, principle of Karma, meaning and purpose of soul and spirituality.

Date of Mokshda Ekadashi

Infact, the Ekadashi tithi will commence at 3:42 AM on December 11, 2024, and conclude at 1:09 AM on December 12, 2024. The prahna time.will start at 7:05 AM and will end at 9:09 AM on December.

Ritual to be Performed on Mokshda Ekadashi

Meanwhile, a Vishnu lover must perform following rituals on Mokshda Ekadashi with discipline and dutifully:

  • Firstly, always have your bathing rituals early morning in Brahma Muhurat.
  • Secondly, clean the puja space properly.
  • Thirdly, always place idol of Lord Vishnu on a clean cloth placed above the ground level.
  • Always light a diya with ghee. Offer flowers, akshat (rice) and vermilion to Lord Vishnu.
  • Also Read Vishnu Sahasranam strota on the day.
  • One must refrain from eating grains on Ekadashi. Always prefer milk and falahar at the time of ending fast.
  • Additionally, many devotees also indulge in kirtan and bhajan.
  • Last but not the least, try to avoid eating rice on this Ekadashi.
